About Me

I am a systemic family therapist who enjoys working with people of all ages and backgrounds. My training in systemic therapy enables me to work with individuals, couples and families of all shapes and sizes who are struggling with some aspects of their lives.

I work with people in a comfortable, confidential environment to look at how to introduce change.

Those I have worked with successfully include people for whom depression has been present for a short or long period.

I see couples who come with a variety of different problems, wanting to find a way to talk about them. My clients have also included people who have been bereaved, losing a parent, partner or child and those suffering loss through separation, divorce, redundancy or illness.

I welcome children of any age. When primary school children are involved I usually work with another therapist.

Very often people have untapped sources of resilience and my aim is to find out together with them how they can utilise their strengths.

How I work

In the sessions our conversations will include exploration of the influences of the past, how life is in the present and hopes for the future.

The systemic approach allows me  to work flexibly, so that I use a variety of methods and techniques
depending on what is appropriate.

During our initial session I will ask questions to understand what has brought you to  therapy, what issues concern you and about your expectations. I appreciate that  starting therapy can be a difficult step to take, so it is important that you  are comfortable with me and how I work. At the end of the session we will decide  whether I can be of help and whether you wish to continue.

The number of  session can vary depending on the issues. Many people find that 6-12 sessions are sufficient while some require longer-term therapy.
